Efficacy and Safety of Arbidol in Treatment of Patients with COVID-19 Infection: A Randomized Clinical Trial

Background: COVID-19 has led to the demand for finding effective antiviral agents. Preliminary experiments showed Umifenovir inhibit replication in vivo. There is limited data on clinical efficacy of COVID-19-infected pneumonia. Therefore, we aimed evaluate this medication based findings.
 Methods: The present study was designed investigate advantages and disadvantages compared empirical treatments. For purpose, multi-stage sampling considered. 56 people who had mild-to-moderate symptoms without signs pneumonia, were selected by accidental non-random method divided into two groups [(group A with Hydroxychloroquine (HCQ) group B combination Umifenovir] randomized block (1:1). During study, three patients left case group. Their evaluated 3rd, 7th, 14th day after taking these medicines disease course. SPSS software used analysis significance level considered be p<0.05.
 Results: On seventh visiting patients, there statistically significant differences recuperation dry cough (p=0.001), weakness (p=0.004), gastrointestinal (p=0.043) shortness breath (p=0.001) between so that (HCQ Umifenovir) a faster recovery. In treated HCQ control group, myalgia (p=0.03), (p=0.047) (p=0.007) improved significantly earlier during illness.
 Conclusion: Evaluation findings patients’ performed it shown received both Umifenovir.
